"You Must Love Me" is a song by Madonna from her third soundtrack album Evita for the movie Evita. it was released as the lead single from the album on October 27, 1996.
Background[]
To promote the Evita soundtrack, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice got back together to write a song especially for Madonna. The result was this beautiful ballad in which Eva Peron shows her vulnerable side.
Composition[]
"You Must Love Me" starts with the sound of orchestra and piano, as Madonna sings the opening verses. She continues singing the lyrics, which talk about Perón's discovery that her husband Juan had actually loved her all along and not merely seen her as a political prop. The song is set in common time, with a moderate tempo of 92 beats per minute. It is composed in the key of B♭ major, with Madonna's vocals spanning from G3 to B♭4. The song has a basic sequence of B♭–E♭/B♭–F♭/B♭–B♭ in the beginning and changes to B♭–F♭.
Live Perfomances[]
Madonna perfomed the song in the 69th delivery of the Oscars and in her tour Sticky & Sweet Tour in 2008 and 2009.

Lyrics[]
Where do we go from here?
This isn't where we intended to be
We had it all, you believed in me
I believed in you
Certainties disappear
What do we do for our dream to survive?
How do we keep all our passions alive
As we used to do?
Deep in my heart I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me
You must love me
Why are you at my side?
How can I be any use to you now?
Give me a chance and I'll let you see how
Nothing has changed
Deep in my heart I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me
You must love me
You must love me
